Whether you currently receive benefits or not, your Social Security account provides personalized tools to assist you.

For example, you can easily request a replacement Social Security card, track the progress of your applications, estimate future benefits or effectively manage your existing benefits.

Creating a new My Social Security Account is now simpler than ever in the USA, with two trusted credential partners: Login.gov or ID.me.

The former offers a single government account, ensuring simple, secure and private access to participating US government agencies.

ID.me, on the other hand, serves as a reliable single sign-on provider, meeting the US government's online identity proofing and authentication requirements. Your credential includes a username, password and two-step verification factors, guaranteeing a high level of security during the online identity verification process.

How to access the My Social Security Account

To get started, visit www.ssa.gov/myaccount. There, you have the option to create an account using our preferred credential partner.

Please remember that you must be at least 18 years old, possess a Social Security number (SSN), and have a valid US mailing address.

A valid email address and some additional information will also be required during the account creation process.

When selecting "Sign In with Login.gov" or "Sign in with ID.me", you will be redirected to the partner's website.

After successfully creating your credential, you will be directed back to the My Social Security webpage for further steps.

Can you let someone else access your My Social Security Account?

"For your protection, you're the only one who can create your personal my Social Security account for your own exclusive use," the official Social Security website has warned.

"No one can create or use an account on your behalf, even with your written or verbal permission.

"Do not allow anyone else to use your account under any circumstances.

"Unauthorized use of this service is a misrepresentation of your identity to the federal government and could subject you to criminal or civil penalties, or both."
