The fruitful partnership between Saul ''Canelo' Alvarez and promoter Eddie Hearn has officially come to an abrupt end after the Mexican champion made an announcement on Thursday. Through his Instagram Stories, Canelo announced he just became partners with Premier Boxing Champions. The American promotion that is led by Al Haymon managed to convince the Mexican star to sign a three-fight deal for an excess of $100 million. After a long stint with DAZN and Eddie Hearn, Canelo Alvarez has officially moved on from them and on to greener pastures. This news comes as a bit of a shock mainly because it was believed he was happy with the work Eddie Hearn was doing with the fights he was promoting for Canelo.

Amid this decision, Matchroom Boxing has a massive hole that they need to fill with other champions. The main faces of the company are now Regis Prograis, Edgar Berlanga, and Sunny Edwards. People who are talented but are a far cry from what Canelo draws and represents in terms of business and popularity. After the news broke, other promotions from the United States started mocking Eddie Hearn through memes and tweets. They have a known rivarly with Hearn amid his dominance in the box office and closing deals for the biggest fights in the world. Now that Canelo is gone, they no longer have a golden egg goose.

Oscar de la Hoya mocks Eddie Hearn in public

In his pure style, Golden Boy Promotions leader Oscar de la Hoya decided to tweet about the new deal Canelo made with Haymon. He decided to make fun of Eddie Hearn for losing Canelo through a picture of the British promoter crying. Actually, De la Hoya is not slowing down with his mockery after the deal was announced and everybody in the platform noticed. Floyd Mayweather's promotion also raised eyebrows with their reaction, which they consider a game changer in boxing. Generally, it's been a back and forth between promotions for years and Hearn's detractors are having a field day at his expense. That's just the way the game goes sometimes, Eddie needs to take it on the chin like a champ.
